Are you a potato, an egg or a coffee bean?
You can't win every day.
Today was pretty ridiculous, you can read about it in my latest blog post:
It would be relaxing, they said. It would be FUN.
Defeated by teenage cows and sheep. Sheesh, what's the world coming to?!
But then, I also had a little personal victory today, which you can see right here: Dropping into backbend.
And that's life, isn't it? A constant up and down, good moments and not so good ones, lightness and dark.
I found one of those inspirational videos on Facebook last week, and it spoke to me: What we can learn about life from a potato, eggs, and coffee.
You may have seen it already, but it's such a good reminder that, while we have no power over what happens to us, we have the power to control what happens within us.
It's up to us how we want to react to it. Are we going to let life's hardships defeat us? Will we break, or become bitter, or play the blame game?
Will we become unforgiving and tough?
It's understandable when people do. After all, life isn't fair, and it deals some shitty blows to some people.
But here's the thing: The only ones we're hurting by letting life kick us to the ground, is ourselves.
Life doesn't care; the people who hurt us won't care; if it's illness or death that is giving us a hard time, we will have relinquished all our power by giving up; they will have won.
Don't let them win.
Don't let the haters, the adversaries, the Lord Voldemorts of this world take away your power.
Don't let them take away your kindness and compassion.
Don't let them take away your creative spark, your uniqueness and your weirdness.
Be like the coffee bean: Let yourself be transformed by challenging times into something even better than before: Into something that gives people strength, happiness, and a reason to get up in the morning. ;-)
Let's all be coffee beans!
xoxo Miriam
