Yes! The dark half of the year is home to me - it is where my soul feels most alive and the time of the year when I thrive. I think I spent my 40s really falling in love with the darkness and now, as I reach 50, I feel as if I have created/accepted and found a way to live with the seasons, balancing the light and the dark, in a way that feels holistic to me. Finding space and presence in the unfolding of it all. ❤️
I thought of you as I was writing this post! You are the first (and one of the very few) person I know who thrives in the darkness. I'm honestly thrilled to join you! It feels like I've been given the gift of 200+ extra days I love during the year. What a treasure.
Yes! I can barely believe it myself, but I have come to love all seasons except summer; fall and winter most of all and I am counting down the days. Not being able to hear myself think was one reason for me to take a break from social media in August. I like to get a head start on things, this time a start on the quieter season ❤️
I hope your social media break will help with that! After a very busy July I want to get a lot more solo time in this month. I’m also trying my hand at a new genre: short stories! Very excited to get back into a writing routine!
Give me a week to reset, and then I'd love to meet up and plan our writing sessions! I also need to do some more research on short stories, it's a new genre for me.
I feel the same about summer, even if, 30 years ago coming to rural BC, I loved winter right away. The snow silencing everything. The snow so capable of making our, and animals' footsteps sound different, depending on conditions. Now, my little quiet town has become a tourist attraction, a lot of noisy and littering people that came from who knows where. Another reason to be happy when summer's over, on top of the heatwaves/ smoke waves/ and very loud backyards. Looking at becoming a hermit full time somewhere ;)) Your book is here! Love and many thanks from your clementine
Happy reading, Clementine! That’s another thing that’s great about winter - it’s the perfect reading season. I hope you find your perfect hermitage, we’re working on ours!

Oh, exciting! I want to hear more about that! We can start our writing group anytime. Or go for coffee when you feel like company!
