Isn't it a privilege and an honour to gain wisdom with age? We are slowly, slowly turning into elders, and all the pieces of advice we've received when we were younger but weren't ready for then, are now coming into focus and making perfect sense. I love this journey we're on ❤️
Many, many moons ago (approx 50 years) an older lady said to me: "life is sweet, take it slow" This was on a longer vacation in the Bahamas, the lady was sitting on a bench, and I asked if she minded me joining her. By my colouring she could tell I was fresh off a plane from a colder country. We had a great chat, about rushing, hurrying, and if this really is necessary. I never forgot that line, I can still see and hear her saying this. So yes to softer, slower, sweeter Miriam. Thanks for taking me back in time!
There's so much we can learn from our elders. Nothing I write about in these letters is new; I've all heard and read it before, but wasn't ready at the time to receive it.
You are sweet and soft and lovely and I'm so happy we met! Yes to going slow and saying no more often to pressures designed to keep us consuming, and saying yes to ourselves!
This really spoke to me today - I was in a yoga class recently where the teacher said "now stop and ask yourself why you always choose to do the hard shit". Your writing here is so affirming and motivating - to decide to do less (can you be motivated to do less? ;)). Thank you so very much.
I was thinking of how often we use the word hard to "motivate" us: work hard, try hard, push harder, the annoying expression to "work hard, play hard" (I really HATE that phrase). We are even encouraged to want hard bodies ("get rock-hard abs", "you could bounce a penny off her butt"). Why all that hardness? Softness is where it's at. We CAN be motivated to do less and live more.
I love this, Miriam! Brilliant post! Softer and simpler every single day - that is exactly the journey that I’m walking too. Love to you, friend. ❤️

It's all about timing, isn't it.
So happy it brought you a happy memory today!
I love this! This is exactly what I needed to hear today.
I'm so glad it found you when you needed it!

Yes to all of this! And I'm so happy we met as well! I'm excited to start our writing group soon, I'm almost ready to start on book #5!

Miriam you seem to read my mind with your writing. This was such a true read. Love and miss you my dear friend ❤️
Same here! I hope you're well. I'm definitely in my soft era, and it's too good not to share! Everybody join me!
